I'm not too sure yet. Female characters were, even in their worst, portrayed as trustworthy and genuinely forgiving, which is fine. But I definitely felt that the male chara I appreciate the lessons Mahogany Woodland attempted to relay to young readers, but I found this book very very shallow.

Female characters were, even in their worst, portrayed as trustworthy and genuinely forgiving, which is fine. But I definitely felt that the male chara I appreciate the lessons Mahogany Woodland attempted to relay to young readers, but I found this book very very shallow. But I definitely felt that the male characters got a bad rep in this book. Woodland stereotyped all athletes as promiscuous and whorish.

Maybe I'm too old to understand what Woodland was trying to do and I do hope that her message reaches its intended audience female high school students and freshmen , but it really did not do it for me. The book seemed a bit unrealistic and was too shallow to give students a real understanding of the possible repercussions of their actions, should they follow the paths of any of the characters in this work.
